There are currently no major harmful side effects of Spirulina or from the consumption of Spirulina.

However, some users have experience some discomfort effects such as an increases in body temperature. Spirulina promote higher body metabolism thus releasing more body heat.

More pain felt around affected areas. For people suffering from Gastric, Duodenal ulcers, Rheumatism, Migraine, Neuralgia and Gout tend to experience more pain in initial stage after taking Spirulina.

When a person suffering from hypoglycemia or anaemia consumes Spirulina, there may be a drop in the blood sugar level to burn the excessive fats.

It is not necessarily easy to digest for people having digestive problem and there are people reported feeling bloated and heavy after consuming Spirulina.

Blackish/greenish bowel movements. Spirulina helps eliminate accumulated residues in colon. If stool remains greenish after a period of tim, this is due to green pigments found in Spirulina.

Pass wind or chest pain. Symptoms of disorder in digestive system, flatulence.

Sleepy, tired body. Symptoms of an acidic body condition, weakness in liver, over-exhaustion and stress.

Spirulina contains Phenylalanine, which can post a little side effect for people suffering from Phenylketonuria (genetic metabolic disorder). Eventhough Phenylketonuria can be treated with ease nowadays, it's important to take note on this area for people having Phenylketonuria.
